Birding Big Day 2005

BRITS ROTARY TEAM WINS OPEN SECTION OF BIRDLIFE SA'S 21ST BIRDING BIG DAY:

The Brits team won the open section with a count of 253 species recorded within a 24 hour period over an area with a radius of 50 km.  Let this be a challenge to other Rotary clubs with Birders in their midst.  The day makes great fellowship and fun with all funds raised via team sponsorships going to Birdlife SA to fund various conservation projects.

One of their PPE projects, was to enter a team, consisting of John Wesson (team leader),  Jenny WessonAlan Newton-Perry and  Marj Tumner, to take part once again in Birdlife SA's 21st Birding Big Day:

We did the Tzaneen area and represented Brits and Letaba Rotary Clubs.

Our total bird species recorded was 248.

R 1500 sponsorship was raised which will go to Birdlife South Africa to aid conservation.
